Alton B. Young, age 95 of Wattsburg, passed away on Saturday May 30, 2026, at Fairview Manor. He was born on November 18, 1930, in Wattsburg to the late George B. and Mabel Emory Young.
Alton was a veteran during the Korean War Era. He served in the U.S. Air Force at Luke Air Force Base, Glendale, Arizona. Alton attended Wattsburg Area Schools. He was employed at Welch Foods for 49 years, retiring in 2002. Alton was born at his family farm, started in 1852, and spent his life there. Alton was a member of the Union City American Legion Post 237, Moose Lodge 882, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Alton was preceded in death by his beloved wife Leatrice Louise Cobb Young on June 17, 2020, his daughter Georgia L. Young Shrout, and brother Milton G. Young.
He is survived by his son Paul H. Young of Wattsburg; grandchildren Renee L. Melton (James) of Montana, Brian P. Young (Suzanne) of Wattsburg, and Thomas Shrout (Deonna) of Wattsburg; great grandchildren Dana and Ryan Melton; Gunnar, Emmry, and Grant Young; Alexander and Evelyn Shrout.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Wednesday June 3, 2026, from 3 P.M. until time of service at 6 P.M. Officiated by Rev. Mike Beckerink, followed by a full military funeral. Private interment in Lowville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie Veterans Administration Medical Center, 135 East 38th Street, Erie.
