Robbie and Krista,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of sorrow.  May the memories you have made over the years help you through this difficult time.  Rob touched so many lives over the years with his caring manner and infectious laughter.  June was our favorite month as we never missed the birthday calls to each other. It always turned into a 2 hour reminiscing of growing up together on William Circle.  Rob was a friend like no other.  Patti and I will miss him greatly.  He was so proud of the two of you and loved you very much.  Your Dad will be with you forever.

With Love and Friendship,
Mike and Patti Gielata

To Rob's family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones:
I was a student of Rob's during 8th (Woodshop I) and 11th grade (Home Improvements?) and he had a profound impact upon me during junior high. I started smoking and left his class to have a cigarette in the bathroom. As I returned to class and placed the hall pass upon his desk... "Mr. Banks" said something along the lines of, "Gary... I allow you to go to the bathroom to relieve yourself, not to come back and make the room stink of cigarettes." The look I received just made me want to crawl into one of his tool cabinets and close the doors. Never again. Years later after I earned my teaching degree/certification, I covered his classes for a few days at Walnut Creek, plus Rob would seek me out during our district-in-services within the auditorium at MIHS and we would sit next to each other. In September 2018, I went to shake Rob's hand after resigning from the MTSD and beginning the relocation to Texas, but he pulled me in and gave me a strong hug. Rob exemplified the ideal teacher, mentor, friend, colleague... He was the package - creative, brilliant, generous, humorous, devoted... He will be greatly missed but definitely never forgotten. Thank you, Rob and Rest In Peace💓😢

To Rob's family. I met Robbie when we lived in the same apartment building in the late 70's. He was always smiling and just an all around nice guy. We exchanged pleasantries each time we ran into each other since those early years. He always still had that grin and showed the same kindness. He made the world a better place and being a teacher myself can tell you he impacted the students he taught. Prayers for all during this difficult time.

I have always remembered your gentle "lead by example" manner my old friend. You are now most certainly among your true kind. See you again one day on silvered skates Rob. Paul Schuler.

Donna Banks,

I am so sorry for your earthly loss. You told me many times in our "hallway talks" how much he meant to you.  May you find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering.

Rob was a great man that still positively influences our family’s life today.

From our interactions over the years through ice hockey, I quickly learned that he brought happiness wherever he was. His conversations were filled with laughter, wisdom, and good intention.

There are people that add, and there are people that subtract. Rob always added to this world. For example, we received a beautiful handmade gift from Rob for our wedding that we use now and will enjoy for years to come.

In several ways, Rob will always be with us and continue to influence us to be a greater version of ourselves.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Rob’s family and loved ones.

With love,
Adrian and Shelby Babel

To the entire Banks family,
I knew Rob for a short time but it didn’t take long to recognize his peaceful spirit and generous heart. He engraved a saying for me on a piece of granite I have by my outdoor fire pit that speaks of God’s love. Rob, I pray that you are surrounded by that great love!
You are all in my thoughts and prayers ✨🙏
