Bernard “Bernie” C. Wright, of Harborcreek passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at his residence after a long illness. Bernie was born on February 22, 1943 in Erie, Pa., the son of the late James and Eileen (Summerson) Wright. He graduated from Harborcreek High School in 1962, and then went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After his service, he was employed by American General Life Insurance and with General Electric from 1969 until his retirement in 1998. Bernie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time at his cottage on the Allegheny River. He also enjoyed wood working and restoring furniture. Bernie is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Donna L. Wright; son, John Wright, and his wife Jennifer, and daughter, Jennifer Howard and her husband Mark; grandsons, Adam Wright, Lucas Wright, and John Howard; sister, Dawna Cass (Jim); as well as several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bernie’s life at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Saturday, March 20th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Family Hospice Fund, Hamot Health Foundation, 302 French Street, Erie, PA 16501 or to the Charity of One’s Choice.
