Clyde Burnham, age 86, of North East, was called home to his final resting place on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Clyde was born on November 27, 1932 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Clyde E and Mary Ruth (Garrigus) Burnham. After graduating from North East High School in 1951, he worked on his grandfather's fruit farm in North East. Clyde met Judith Bailey in 1951 and after a 2 year courtship, married in June of 1953. Clyde worked as a semi truck driver and then worked road construction on I90, but always had his passion for farming. With the help of his wife and family, he grew tomatoes, grapes, and other small crops. In 1993, after remodeling their farm house, Clyde and Judy started a bed and breakfast that welcomed guests from all over the world, whether visiting the area, or just passing through. Clyde was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church for over 50 years where he served in many capacities. He served on the board of Evangelistic Endeavors, North East Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Gideons International, as well as being a member of the National Grape Co-op. Clyde and his wife were members of the AFS, through which they hosted students from Costa Rica and Chile. He and wife went on several mission trips across the world, but his favorite trip of all was to Israel where our Lord and Savior walked the Earth. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ernest; a grandson, Wyatt Eugene Lee Burnham; and a son-in-law, Lewis Luke. Clyde is survived by his wife of 65 years, Judith (Bailey) Burnham; daughters, Cindy Luke, Lynn Davis (Charles), Wendy Ramsdell (John); sons, Rick Burnham (Donna) and Christopher Burnham (Karrie); sisters Joan Oram (Blair) of Arkansas and Becky Craig of Colorado; 14 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home 65 South Lake St. North East, Pennsylvania on Friday from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM and on Saturday at 10:30am until time of a funeral service at 11:00am at the Alliance Church. Officiating the service is Rev. Matthew Guentner. Private interment will be held at North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the East Lake Road Alliance Church 4500 E Lake RD. To the Burnham family, my deepest sympathies in regard to the passing of Mr. Burnham. When I was growing up next door on Spring Hill Road every time I saw him he always was very nice to me. My prayers are with you.
