William “Bill” Anthony Thomas
William “Bill” Anthony Thomas, age 84, of North
East, formerly of Pittsburgh, went to be with his
Lord, and was reunited with his wife of 63 years, on
Thursday, January 17, 2019. He was born on May 23,
1934, in Penn Hills, Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, the son of the
late William Joseph and Susan
(Garland) Thomas.
Bill graduated Pittsburgh Central
Catholic and Duquesne University,
earning a B.A. in Business. He was
formerly employed by US Steel in
Pittsburgh, where he helped produce
steel for the Mackinac Bridge
in Michigan. He also taught business
at Jackson Business University
in Jackson, Michigan, did motivational
speaking with the Dale Carnegie
Institute, and taught religious
education at Marian Catholic High
School in Marion, Ohio. Bill was a
devoted Catholic and was a member
of St. Gregory Catholic Church
in North East. He enjoyed the art
of conversation, telling stories, and
was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life Patricia
Ann Thomas; an infant sister, Glori Renee; and
a sister, Johanna Stabile.
He is survived by his daughters, Renee Clark of Erie,
Mary Sue Vaught (Thomas) of Deltona, Fla.., Desiree
Roth (Richard) of Hillsdale, Mich., and Teresa A. Ratledge
(William) of Shepardstown, W.Va.; a son, William
A. Thomas II (Yvette) of Collyville, Texas; and also
numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral
Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Sunday
from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., and are invited to attend
a prayer service on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral
home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St.
Gregory Church. Private interment will be held at
Mount Carmel Cemetery, Verona, Pa. Memorials may
be made to St. Gregory Church, 136 West Main Street,
North East, PA 16428, or to the Clelian Height for Exceptional
Students, Clelian Heights Lane, Hemifield
Township, PA 15601.
