Alice E. (Adams) Valone
Alice E. (Adams) Valone, 88, of North East, Pa., died
peacefully, on October 31, 2018, at Parkside in North
East. She was born on April 3, 1930, to the late Henry
and Charlotte (Bezanson) Adams.
She was predeceased by her
parents, Marion Madge Toolis, nee
Adams (sister), Melvin (Sam) Adams
(brother) and beloved daughter
Susan E. Valone.
She is survived by her husband
of 68 years Charles Valone Sr.,
sons Charles Valone, Jr. (Jeannie),
Steven Valone (Amy), and Samuel
Valone, and daughters Charlotte
Gilbert (Michael) and Joanne
Valone, grandchildren Megan, Ali,
Mimi, Kayda, Tony, Nick, Sal, Mario,
Jason, Amanda, Erica, Ashley,
Morgan, Shelby, Hudson and
Walker, eight great-grandchildren,
as well as many nieces and
nephews.
Alice graduated from North
East High School, class of 1948,
as valedictorian. She attended
Antioch College for one year, but
returned to North East to marry her high school
sweetheart, Charles Valone, Sr., on September 2, 1950.
Together, they raised six children on their family
fruit farms in North East. She enjoyed spending time
with family and friends, classical music, reading,
Lake Erie, looking at the night sky, baking, chocolate
(she had a stash wherever she went!) and playing
cards, especially “Spite and Malice with Alice,” as
well as bridge with her large circle of friends. She
also traveled extensively to see and support her
widespread extended family.
Alice was a shining example of unconditional love,
kindness, tolerance and patience that was evident in
her everyday life without fail. She had a way of making
each of us feel special and her greatest joy was
seeing her family be successful and happy. She will
be sorely missed, but her spirit lives on through the
generations she leaves behind. Rest in peace, sweet
Alice!
Special thanks is given for the loving care provided
by sister-in-law Sally (Bob) Valone, VNA hospice and
all her special caregivers. Also much appreciation
goes to the community as a whole for the many, many
expressions of good wishes, admiration, and fondness
for Alice.
