Raymond L. Juniewicz, age 96, of Erie, formerly of North East, died on Saturday February 24, 2018 at St. Mary's East.  He was born on January 11, 1922 in Erie, PA the son of the late Felix and Rose (Jaskiewicz) Juniewicz.  He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army where he was a prisoner of war in Germany.  Ray graduated East High School in 1941 and was formerly employed by East Crate Manufacturing for several years.   Ray attended St. Gregory Catholic Church was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and the Catholic War Veterans of St. Stanislaus Post 842.  He served as the business agent and co-producer of "The Minstrel Show of '50" under the direction of George Stephany.  He was also a lifetime member of the North East V.F.W. Post 4789, North East American Legion Post 105 and the Polish Foresters.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bernadine J. (Cieslikowski) Juniewcz; brothers, Frank, Edward, Andrew, and Harry Juniewicz.  Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Wednesday from 2:00 pm until time of a funeral service at 4:00 pm with Full Military Honors.  Officiating the service is Rev. Thomas Brooks.  Private interment will be held at Trinity Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to St. Mary's East, 607 East 26th Street, Erie, PA 16504 or the World War II Monument, 1964 Independence Ave SW, Washington, DC, 20227.

Ray was a friend of my father, Ed, who he knew as Axel. They worked together at Erie Crate Company for many years, and I visited Ray at St. Mary's last summer. He was still sharp. I offer my condolences to his family and friends for there loss of a man who cared for those he loved.
