Ross L. Perkins, 92, of Ripley NY (9-5-24) passed away peacefully to be with his wife Marie again on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at home with family & his beloved dog “Snug Bug” by his side.

Ross was a member of Ripley VFW. He proudly served in WWII as a B17 Waist Gunner with the 8th Air Force 94th Bomb Group and a refueling truck driver during the D-Day Invasion. Upon returning home from the service Ross opened up his own garage at his home where he became the Auto Mechanic Wizard for family & friends. As recently as a few weeks ago Ross was supervising his grandson, Paul, while he was fixing his truck.

Ross retired working as a welder after 34 years from Al-Tech steel plant in Dunkirk, NY. Upon retirement he began working as a maintenance man extraordinaire at Mount St. Benedict in Harborcreek, Pa for another 20 years until he really retired at the age of 85.

Granddad loved his family, many weekends having all the granddaughters take over his home for sleepovers. He fondly always had special nicknames for all his grand kids. He enjoyed making bird feeders and watching all the birds with Nan from their dining room table. He was a #1 fan of the NY Yankees & never missed a game on TV. Ross enjoyed watching John Wayne westerns, tinkering in his garage, being the Supervisor of the 1-man Neighborhood Watch & playing Solitaire. His lifetime dream of living in Florida came true a couple of years ago when his grandson, Paul, & his wife Tina opened their home to him. He lived the remainder of his life there with his “Snug Bug” being pampered there where it is always 80 degrees & sunny.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Marie, in 2013 & his daughter in law, Gale Maus, in 2015.

Ross is survived by his children Terri (Brian) Fuller, James Maus both of Ripley, Louise (Dan) Bush of Arizona, & Merle (Janice) Perkins of Tennessee. Eight Grandchildren: Paul (Tina) Perkins of Florida, Michael Bush of Arizona, Mark (Jeanie) Perkins of Virginia, Heather (Brian) Chess of Ripley, Gretchen (Stephan) Dorman of Ripley, Megan (Patrick) Bulger of North East, Pa, Kara Fuller of North East, Pa & Kaitlyn Fuller of Ripley and 14 great grandchildren.
