Edith M. Calkins Abbey, age 95, of North East, died on Friday June 17, 2016 at Manor Care.  She was born on February 11, 1921 in Westfield, New York to the late Lee and May Edith Winkleman Calkins.  Edith was formerly employed at General Electric in Erie for 39 years; retiring in 1983.  She was an active member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church where she was Missionary Treasurer, Alliance Women Treasurer, Church Deacon,  40 year Sunday School Teacher, youth counselor at Camp Judson, and was active in the LIFE Program.  Edith was a giving person who loved spending time with her family and friends, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Charles Abbey (1957); sons, Ronald and Richard Stetson.  She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Saunders of North East; son, Rodger Stetson (Judy) of Missouri; and 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-great grandchildren. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Monday 7-9 and Tuesday 2-4 and 7- 9  are invited to attend funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in North East.  Officiating the service Rev. Marvin Hutchinson.  Private Interment North East Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 81 East Main Street, North East, PA 16428.
