Leon Joseph Buczynski, Jr., age 82, 50 year resident of North East, passed away on Thursday August 19, 2021 at Fairview Manor.  He was born on June 19, 1939 in Erie, PA to the late Leon J. Buczynski, Sr. and Mary (Yuhas) Buczynski.  
Leon enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18 and served stateside at Loring AFB in Maine from 1957 to 1961, he was a proud veteran.  Leon was formerly employed by the United States Postal Service for a while until he started working General Electric in the Locomotive Division.  He was a proud member of the UAW Local 506 and retired from General Electric after many years of dedicated service.  After his retirement, Leon served as a school crossing guard for the North East School District for many years and was an active member of St Gregory Catholic Church in North East, PA for the past 50 years. Leon enjoyed volunteering, including donating many gallons of blood and plasma at the Community Blood Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania, helping to save thousands of lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and the love of his life, Della (Trojak) Buczynski whom he met in 1966. He is survived by his children, Kathy Kloss and Lee Buczynski (Brittany); granddaughter, Sarah Kloss; sister, Mary Ann Jankowski;  brother, Henry Buczynski; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his friends and neighbors for helping Leon throughout the past several years, North East Cresent Hose Fire and Rescue department for their services, the Community Nursing Services of North East, the staff at Fairview Manor, and Heartland Hospice, especially his hospice nurse Beth for the care and support Leon required as he made his last journey on this earth.  
Friends and family may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Gregory Church at 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery with Full Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the DAV Erie PA;  Community Nursing Services of North East; or St. Gregory Catholic Church.
