Michael A. Thompson
Michael A. Thompson, age 60, of North East, passed
away peacefully, on Wednesday, January 16, 2019,
surrounded by his family, after a long, courageous
battle with cancer. He was born on July 6, 1958, in
Westfield, New York, the son of
the late Allen D. and Shirley M.
(Bemiss) Thompson.
Mike graduated North East High
School in 1977 and was formerly
employed by Welch Foods, Electric
Materials, and General Electric,
where he recently retired. He was
a member of the General Electric
UE Local 506. Michael’s greatest joy
in life was spending time with his
wife, Kimberly and loving family. He enjoyed hunting,
fishing, and spending time at camp in the Alleghany
Mountains. Mike will be sadly missed by his family
and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kimberly
(Conn) Thompson, whom he married on July 19, 1980;
sons, Matthew Thompson (Leslie) and Eric Thompson
(Deb); daughter, Sara Hillhouse (Sean), all of North
East; brothers, Pat Thompson (Jan) of North East
and Dave Thompson (Mary) of Oil City; mother-in-law
and father-in-law, Neal and Nadine Conn of North
East; brother-in-law, Brad Conn (Erin) of North East;
sisters-in-law, Sherri Bentley (Preston) of Ripley
and Renee Thompson of Titusville; five grandsons; a
granddaughter; and also several nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral
Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Friday
from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., and invited to attend a
funeral service on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral
home. Officiating the service is Rev. Rick Maas. Private
interment will be held at Grahamville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society, 2115 West 38th Street, Erie, PA 16508.
